Coverage and networks

In the Greek Cypriot south, the major operators are Cyta (Cyta-Vodafone), Epic and PrimeTel, with Cablenet as a newer player. Cyta is the largest and has the broadest coverage. In Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and along the south coast, 4G and 5G are good. The Turkish Cypriot north uses Turkish networks such as Turkcell, which fall outside EU roaming. Networks: Cyta, Epic, PrimeTel.

For a week of beach and culture in the south, 5 to 8 GB is enough. Hotels and resorts in Paphos and Ayia Napa almost always offer free wifi.

The south of Cyprus falls under EU roaming, but in the north and near the Green Line your device may log onto a Turkish network, which causes expensive non-EU roaming.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Cyprus?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Cyprus on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Cyprus?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Cyprus.

What is the cheapest eSIM for Cyprus?

The cheapest eSIM for Cyprus at esimzu starts from €1,99, with a lowest-price guarantee. You pay in euros by Bancontact, card or crypto and receive the eSIM instantly by QR code, with no app or physical SIM card.

Does my eSIM also work in Northern Cyprus?

A Cyprus eSIM or EU bundle works on the networks of the Greek Cypriot south. In the Turkish Cypriot north, Turkish operators such as Turkcell apply, which fall outside EU roaming. There, extra charges may arise or your eSIM may not work.

Why do I sometimes get roaming charges in southern Cyprus?

Near the Green Line or the buffer zone, your phone may unintentionally switch to a network from the north, which falls outside the EU. Turn on manual network selection and choose a southern operator to avoid unexpected charges.
