Coverage and networks

The largest mobile operators in Senegal are Orange (Sonatel), Yas (formerly Free, ex Tigo) and Expresso. Orange has the strongest network with the broadest 4G coverage and 5G in and around Dakar. In Dakar, Saint-Louis and the coastal towns, coverage is good, but in remote agricultural areas and the interior, coverage often falls back to 3G or 2G. Networks: Orange, Yas, Expresso.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Senegal?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Senegal on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Senegal?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Senegal.
