Coverage and networks

This Europe eSIM covers 41 countries and territories with a single eSIM. It includes all 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, as well as Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Serbia, North Macedonia and Ukraine, and smaller territories such as Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and the Åland Islands. In each country it connects automatically to a local partner network, for example Orange in France, Movistar in Spain, Swisscom in Switzerland or Turkcell in Turkey. In most countries you get 4G, and 5G where the local network offers it. In Serbia, Ukraine, Guernsey and the Isle of Man it is 4G only. Networks: Orange (France), Movistar (Spain), Vodafone (Italy), Vodafone (Greece), Turkcell (Turkey), Swisscom (Switzerland), O2 (United Kingdom), mts (Serbia).

For a short city trip, the 1 GB plan (valid for 7 days) is often enough. For two to four weeks across several countries, 5 to 10 GB is comfortable, and for long trips or a semester abroad there are 20 GB (90 days) and 50 GB (180 days) plans.

With a plan from an EU country, roaming in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Ukraine already works at home rates. This eSIM pays off most for travellers from outside the EU, for trips that also include Switzerland, the UK, Turkey, Serbia or North Macedonia, or when your home plan has little data or a fair-use cap.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Europe?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Europe on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Europe?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Europe.

What is the cheapest eSIM for Europe?

The cheapest eSIM for Europe at esimzu starts from €4,49, with a lowest-price guarantee. You pay in euros by Bancontact, card or crypto and receive the eSIM instantly by QR code, with no app or physical SIM card.

Do I need this eSIM if my plan is from an EU country?

Not always. Within the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Ukraine, the roam-like-at-home rules let you use your home plan at domestic rates. An eSIM still helps if your bundle has little data, if your provider applies a fair-use limit abroad, or if your trip also takes in Switzerland, the UK or Turkey.

Does it work in Switzerland, the UK and Turkey?

Yes, all three are on the coverage list, as are Serbia, North Macedonia and Ukraine. Switzerland, the UK, Turkey, Serbia and North Macedonia fall outside the EU roaming rules, as do Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, so your provider may charge extra there. That is exactly where one eSIM for the whole trip makes a difference.

Which European countries are not included?

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Moldova, Andorra and Monaco are among the countries not on the coverage list. We offer a separate eSIM for most of them. If you are also heading to Morocco, there is a Europe bundle that includes Morocco as well.

How long is a plan valid?

The 1 GB plan is valid for 7 days, and the 3, 5 and 10 GB plans for 30 days. For longer trips there is 20 GB for 90 days and 50 GB for 180 days. Your data allowance is shared across all 41 countries and territories, so there is no need to buy a plan per country.
