Coverage and networks

The Isle of Man has two main mobile networks: Manx Telecom, the island's incumbent operator, and Sure. Our travel eSIM for the Isle of Man runs on the Manx Telecom network, which your phone will often display as Pronto GSM. You get 4G with 3G as a fallback, and coverage is good in Douglas, Ramsey, Peel, Castletown and Port Erin and along the main roads. In parts of the hilly interior around Snaefell and in remote valleys the signal can be weaker, just as it would be with a local SIM. Networks: Pronto GSM.

For a long weekend, 1 to 3 GB covers maps, messaging and sharing a few photos. If you are coming for the TT races and plan to share lots of video or follow live streams, take 10 GB or more.

The Isle of Man is a self-governing Crown Dependency, part of neither the UK nor the EU, so EU roaming rules do not apply. Phones from the UK also roam onto the island's own networks here, and whether that costs extra depends on your provider.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Isle of Man?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Isle of Man on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Isle of Man?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Isle of Man.

What is the cheapest eSIM for Isle of Man?

The cheapest eSIM for Isle of Man at esimzu starts from €2,49, with a lowest-price guarantee. You pay in euros by Bancontact, card or crypto and receive the eSIM instantly by QR code, with no app or physical SIM card.

Does my UK or EU plan work on the Isle of Man?

Your phone will connect, but whether it costs extra depends on your provider. The island has its own networks and sits outside both the UK and the EU, so EU roam-like-at-home rules do not apply and UK phones roam here too. Some providers, in the EU as well as in the UK, charge roaming or a day pass here, so check before you travel. With an eSIM you know in advance exactly how much data you have.

Which network name will I see on my phone?

Our eSIM connects to the Manx Telecom network. Your screen may show it as Pronto GSM, Manx or Manx Telecom Mobile. That is normal, it is the same local network each time.

Does this eSIM also work in the UK or Ireland?

No, this eSIM works on the Isle of Man only. If you travel via the UK or Ireland, use your home plan there or a separate eSIM for that country.

Will I have good signal during the TT?

During the Isle of Man TT in late May and early June, tens of thousands of visitors come to the island. At spots where large crowds gather, mobile data can slow down. Download offline maps and the schedule in advance so you are always covered.
