Coverage and networks

On Curacao, Flow (formerly UTS, Chippie) and Digicel are the two major mobile operators. Flow usually has the best and broadest 4G/LTE coverage across the whole island, while Digicel is strong around Willemstad and the tourist areas. There is no 5G network yet; 4G is the fastest connection. Networks: Flow, Digicel.

For an average holiday with navigation, social media and some streaming, around 5 GB is enough. If you plan a lot of video, take 10 GB or unlimited.

Curacao is part of the Caribbean portion of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but it does not fall under EU roaming, so a home bundle often charges expensive roaming here.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Curaçao?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Curaçao on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Curaçao?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Curaçao.

What is the cheapest eSIM for Curaçao?

The cheapest eSIM for Curaçao at esimzu starts from €6,49, with a lowest-price guarantee. You pay in euros by Bancontact, card or crypto and receive the eSIM instantly by QR code, with no app or physical SIM card.

Does my home plan just work on Curacao?

Technically yes, but Curacao does not fall under the European roaming rules. You quickly pay high roaming charges per MB. An eSIM with a local data rate is cheaper and gives you a connection immediately on arrival.

Is there good internet coverage outside Willemstad?

Yes, especially via Flow the 4G coverage across most of the island is fine, including at the beaches in the west. Digicel can be weaker in remote spots. 5G is not yet available on Curacao.
