Coverage and networks

Croatia has three operators: Hrvatski Telekom (HT, part of Deutsche Telekom), A1 and Telemach. HT has the broadest 4G coverage at around 98 percent, closely followed by Telemach and A1. Along the Adriatic coast, in Split, Dubrovnik and on the tourist islands, the network is good. In the mountainous interior and some national parks, the signal can drop out. Networks: Hrvatski Telekom, A1, Telemach.

For a week of coast and island hopping, 5 to 10 GB is enough. Many restaurants, cafes and apartments offer free wifi, especially in tourist coastal towns.

Croatia has been a member of the eurozone and Schengen since 2023 and falls under EU roaming, so your home bundle works there normally. An eSIM helps if you have a small bundle.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Croatia?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Croatia on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Croatia?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Croatia.

What is the cheapest eSIM for Croatia?

The cheapest eSIM for Croatia at esimzu starts from €1,99, with a lowest-price guarantee. You pay in euros by Bancontact, card or crypto and receive the eSIM instantly by QR code, with no app or physical SIM card.

Does my eSIM work on the Croatian islands such as Hvar, Brac or Korcula?

Yes. The inhabited and tourist islands along the Adriatic coast are covered by HT, A1 and Telemach with 4G. In port towns and beaches, reach is usually good, although it can drop out in remote bays or during a boat trip.

Do I have reception in national parks such as Plitvice or Krka?

In the visitor zones and car parks there is usually mobile reception via HT. Deep in the forests, waterfalls or remote hiking trails of Plitvice and Krka, however, the signal can be weak or absent.
