Coverage and networks

Ghana has three operators: MTN (the clear market leader), Telecel (formerly Vodafone) and AirtelTigo. MTN has the broadest 4G coverage, reaching about 89 percent of the population, and is especially strong in Accra, Kumasi and the southern coastal strip. In rural areas the network often falls back to 3G or even 2G. Networks: MTN, Telecel, AirtelTigo.

Frequently asked questions

Does an eSIM work in Ghana?

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Ghana on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

How much data do I need for Ghana?

It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Ghana.
