Moldova has three nationwide mobile operators: Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom. Our travel eSIM runs on the Orange network, the country's largest operator, with 4G reaching almost the entire population. 5G is available in Chisinau and in towns such as Balti, Cahul, Ungheni, Orhei and Soroca. In the countryside and smaller villages you will usually stay online on 4G, although speeds can be lower. In Transnistria, the breakaway region along the Dniester river, Moldovan networks only work to a limited extent. Networks: Orange.
For a week in Chisinau with day trips to the Cricova wine cellars or the cave monastery at Orheiul Vechi, 3 to 5 GB covers navigation, messaging and sharing photos. For longer stays or remote work, choose 10 GB or more.
Since 1 January 2026 Moldova is part of the EU roam-like-at-home area, so a mobile plan from an EU country works there at domestic rates. An eSIM is most useful if you travel from outside the EU, if your home bundle is small or if you want a separate data allowance for the trip.

Yes. Our eSIM gives you instant mobile data in Moldova on the local networks, with no roaming fees. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.
It depends on your trip. For mostly maps and messaging, 1 to 3 GB is plenty. If you use navigation, social media and some streaming, plan for roughly 1 GB every two to three days.
Right after payment. You receive a QR code on screen and by email immediately. It is best to install it at home over Wi-Fi before you leave.
Yes. Your own SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts. The eSIM runs alongside it, purely for mobile data in Moldova.
The cheapest eSIM for Moldova at esimzu starts from €1,99, with a lowest-price guarantee. You pay in euros by Bancontact, card or crypto and receive the eSIM instantly by QR code, with no app or physical SIM card.
Yes. Since 1 January 2026 Moldova falls under the EU roam-like-at-home rules, so calls, texts and data cost the same as at home, subject to the usual fair-use policy. Check your operator's terms before you leave. An eSIM is mainly handy as a top-up when your bundle is small.
It usually makes sense. The roam-like-at-home rules are built for plans from EU countries, so travellers from the UK, North America or elsewhere usually pay their own operator's roaming rates in Moldova. With a travel eSIM you install a fixed data bundle before departure and connect to Orange Moldova as soon as you land.
The eSIM uses the Orange Moldova network, the country's largest operator. 4G is available almost everywhere people live, and 5G in Chisinau and in towns such as Balti, Cahul, Ungheni, Orhei and Soroca. If your phone supports 5G, it switches to it automatically where available.
Do not count on it. Transnistria, with towns such as Tiraspol and Bender, is a breakaway region with its own local operator. The signal from Moldovan networks, including Orange, is unreliable or absent there. If you plan a day trip, download your maps and translation app for offline use beforehand.
